Han-Loong's guide to ACJC teachers

greetings and salutations readers!!! extraordinarily enough, i found myself thinking about my teachers this morning. right after maths tuition, which has been a great help (thank you E.L.), i began reflecting on 2005. 2006 and 2007.

i figured that years down the road, i would almost certainly be unable to remember all of my teachers' names and faces, much less their personalities and characteristics. AS SUCH! i have decided to compose a little guide.

this guide not only grades these teachers according to how i, and my friends, think of these teachers but also will include a personal note. this note may be degrading, demeaning or down right disgusting as it changes from teacher to teacher. i figured that since i am no longer a student of this fine instituition i have little to worry about, other than of course, slander, libel and other possible legal ramifications. ....

LETS BEGIN!!! (Each teacher will have 3 sectors, each having a maximum score of 5 stars. these sectors are: Respectability, Endearment, Reliability. the total number of stars will be compiled at the end. keep in mind these are views garnered by me and my fellows over the years spent with these teachers. if you have experiences or instances which prompts you to insist that these views be changed, like i said before, feel free to contact me. i will gladly hear you out and try my best to sympathise with you!)

wow! an amazing 12 stars! mrs ng is a great teacher. she makes you feel comfortable in her lessons no matter your openness or degree of grasp of the english language. however, there are some who perceive this kindness as a sign of condescending attitude, and as such exploit it to no end. nevertheless, she IS someone who one can rely on in times of need. she offers great consultation and even greater advice. thank you madam, ill see you in Feb.
Memorable Memory: consultation on 28 october. i cant remember anything she said about my essay. the last 10 minutes was spent talking about my trials and tribulations and how she convinced me things would turn out for the best. i owe her a lot for that. after hearing her past experiences and first person observations of youths going through what i was enduring now, i knew that God had a plan for me. no matter what, i am in His Grace, and its His Will which drives me now, even when faced with seemingly insurmountable odds.

respect mr ngoei, respect. my history teacher obtains an unsurprising 12 stars as well! he has basically been there and done that in my opinion: a rugger, a student, one who has persisted despite his self professed disappointment with his A levels. his jokes (when not stinging) brighten even the most confusing and mind boggling history tutorials. he ensures that his students learn history and enjoy it, because its the only way that a student can ever really excel at something. lastly, no matter how much your down, no matter how badly you do, he will always be there to give you help. he knows that every history student can do well and he strives to bring out the best in all of us. me being a perfect example.
Memorable Memory: Samuel getting blasted after he walked into the lecture hall right after Mr Ngoei finished scolding the people who came late. HAHAHAHAHA. AND WHEN HE WENT INTO A WRITING EXCERCISE LATE AND ASKED FOR THE PERSON NEXT TO HIM FOR PAPER RIGHT IN FRONT OF NGOEI. HAHAHAHA EXPLOOSSSIIOOONNNN!!!

hmm. seems like everyones getting 12 stars. anyway! miss tan... shes been there since day one in my JJ1 year. me dont always get along but hey i do respect her. all that stuff she did all the places shes gone and all the things she will do is simply astounding. i never really took the effort to get to know miss tan on a personal level as there is simply too much bad sentiment between us (more next time.... maybe). still, the people i know who like her tell me she is great and fun so alright. lastly, you can trust miss tan. she will always, always make time for a student to explain to them a peculiar phrase or testing topic. although i may not always understand her descriptions (which i attribute to her superior literary skills surpassing mine own), she does do her best. we are all sorry to see you go miss tan. farewell and good luck with MOE!
Memorable Memory: funorama and the strife entailed in it

ok hear me out. 7 stars isnt exactly stellar, but hey whaddya expect. when a student signs up for consultation with you at 8:50 in the morning you should turn up, or if you dont at least have the courtesy to sms me and tell me why you cant help your charges who have requested your aid. granted, i wasnt there myself as i was suffering from a 40 degree fever and a hangover which could kill a moose due to drinking the night before, but cmon. dont make shi han and bt wait!!!
: ) also, being late to class half the time is just... yeah. anyway, she does make class fun... still recall the enactment of the court room scene in which alex is sentenced to the dreary old staja. that was entertaining. imagined worlds never needed less imagining.
Memorable Memory: well i cant think of any now. my most dominant memory is falling asleep to her calming voice.

nine stars to mrs lim!!! i can almost hear shi han screaming what the FUCK are you THINKING when he reads this. but listen to moi!!! see, mrs lim makes sure that we are always in class. she is so rigorous about attendance because even if you zone out or stop paying attention, she knows that what shes teaching will seep in one way or another (conscious or subconciously). yesh. furthermore, she IS reliable. i just never asked for her help that much. her detailed delvings into the mechanisms of maths nearly always baffles the class, when a simpler explanation (which she DOES give, when she realises all the slack jaws and widened eyes betray our utter bewilderment) is sufficient.
Memorable Memory: when me and shi han got into the lift at lvl 1 and pressed lvl 6 to head to our maths lesson. before the doors closed, she walked in. > < as if that wasnt bad enough, after we got off at level 5 and walked up, guess who was staring at the elevator level indicators and waiting for us to pop out of an elevator right into her trap!!! hahahaha

mmm a cool 10 stars. shes nice when she isnt telling us to shut up or asking us to take over the lesson. all the times i see my dear cousin Wen Ting consulting her implies that she offers help to those who ask for it and are ready to learn. thumbs up i say!
Memorable Memory: her portrait in ma book. : )

in conclusion!!! here is my guide to ACJC teachers!!! well some of them anyway. im pretty sure people will tell me stuff to put up and things to change so im looking forward to editing this post! keep looking here for more details alright my chums! keep in mind that this is not a FORMAL guide. this does not assess a teacher's teaching capabilities, nor does it suggest that any teacher is inefficient. its a MEMORY upon which me and my friends will look back on in the future, and laugh (or cry) about.

Colin Hay's Overkill

I can't get to sleep
I think about the implications
Of diving in too deep
And possibly the complications
Day after day it reappears
Night after night my heartbeat shows the fear
Ghosts appear and fade away
Come back another day
