smiles and denials

morning my duckies! i woke up today and realised that i had eight, count em, EIGHT more work days left before i become a free man once more. i am SO looking forward to it. of course, there are certain formalities which must be observed before i can make my withdrawal from uob(okokok, i hope that little twist of the tongue so smart to the extent where some of my more ignorant readers didnt catch it...). they include submitting my letter of resignation AND informing my uncle(who got me the job in the first place, keep in mind) of my unemployment intentions.

what follows in this post will be an account of the latter and how i went about doing it. see, yesterday my family and his met for lunch at crystal jade. what with me leaving uob NEXT WEEK(YES YES YESSSSSSSSS!!!), i felt that i had better take the opportunity and tell uncle wheelock that i wanted to quit. the sooner the better after all.

hmmmmmm. to make this more exciting, i think ill switch to a third person narrative of the whole scenario. heck, ill even inject a bit of film noir for effect. : ) enjoy me lovelies!

Little Jerichos

i narrowed my eyes as my sister and my cousin left the table. where once there were ten, now there were four. my great grandma and her daughter had gone to the washroom, with my mother following them to make sure they were alright. my other uncle(a blithering utter retard) was off somewhere making idiotic comments like he always does. now, adele and tings excused themselves to go to popular to look for god only knows what.

the remaining members were a sordid lot: my uncle who got me a decent nine to five(regulations state eight thirty to five thirty, but corners are meant to be cut.), his jolly wife, my even jollier dad and, of course, yours frickin truly.

as the three laughed and continued ingesting spoonful after spoonful of overpriced food, i leaned back in my chair and crossed my arms. i had already eaten my share, and the conversation was as dull as a cow missing its brains. something about how everything at the restaurant was fairly cheap. pfft. clearly, there was nothing which interested me here anymore, but for courtesy's sake i was obliged to wait until everyone was finished before taking my leave.

well, there WAS something else which still kept my attention focused on the lunch: i was growing bored with my current employment. it was time for a change, and i already decided when i was gonna leave the bank. all i needed to do was write up the paper work and tell my uncle.

but that was just it. i felt uncomfortable and hesitant about the whole situation, because here was the same guy who got me my first desk job and im givin it right back. just like a mongrel biting the hand that feeds it, i was wondering if future circumstances and twists of fate would lead me to regret this.

ah fuck it.

"hey uncle wheelock, i think im leaving uob on 6 feb."

"oh ok yeah sure. your last two or three days ill put you next to auntie whinny so you can see how the wheelers and dealers do their stuff."

"alright that sounds fine. just thought id let you know."

with that quick but possibly life altering chat behind me, i once again reclined in my seat. brushing a loose strand of hair aside, i reached for a glass of water to steady my nerves. maybe ill have another xiao long bao.

End

mmmmm i had fun writing that! sho yeah, headed home to rest the day away(nick cannon's 5 hour wild n out marathon ftw!) because i knew monday was gonna be a bitch. and i went for a walk!

a most relaxing and quiet walk, with nothing but music and davidoff to keep my company. i thought about a lot of things, people and times during the forty minute journey. the light drizzle seemed to put a nice little touch on the first stroll ive had in a long long time, and the whole thing made me wonder why i ever stopped taking regular meanders around dalvey road. mmm. well, like the ataris said: being grown up isnt HALF as fun as growing up... these are the best days of our lives.

today im back in the office, waiting once more for twelve so i can take a much deserved(?) lunch break. i wonder what i shall have today. hmmm. nasi lemak sounds good! anyway, yes, thats the end of this post ladies and gentlemen. look out for the next one, in which ill be writing about forgiveness. its draft is looking more and more tantalising. cheers me lovelies

+44's When Your Heart Stops Beating

She says it all without a thought in her head
She says it all and she's pressed up against me
A little something just to take off the edge
A little more and I'll fall off the planet entirely

I'll be there when you heart stops beating
I'll be there when your last breath's taken away
In the dark when there's no one listening
In the times when we both get carried away
When we both get carried away
