Introducing Adam Occult Part 2: Out of Body Experiences

the mewling stopped the moment Adam closed the door behind him. his eyes narrowed against a sudden blinding glare. grimacing, he took in the grisly scene.

julians bedroom was covered in blood. some of it hadnt even dried yet, still sliding down walls and falling in drops off the ceiling. it was everywhere, a crimson blanket hiding what once was a picturesque room beneath its gory contents. it resembled more a heretic's wildest dream come true than a priest's humble abode.

the bright flickering light on the ceiling threw everything into stark contrast, lighting up one part of the room while suddenly sinking another into shadow. Adam discerned several things after a moment. aw, fuckin hell, he thought to himself.

the bookshelf once filled with bibles and various self help titles lay splintered on the floor, its soaked contents decorating the floor with scraps of paper and torn leather. the two windows were cracked and splashed with blood, letting in pale moonlight with an unholy tint. julians bed had been pushed against the wall, its sheets and pillows torn to shreds. the wooden frame held deep, deep scratch marks, as if some kind of creature had been sharpening its nails on its oaken build while waiting for its prey.

in the middle of the room, etched into the floor, were three circles. these were the basis of any basic Calling. supposedly, they were to be spaced apart to form a triangle, with the largest of the three surrounded by candles to guide the spirit into the mortal realm and runes to confine it within the circle. the other two circles were spaced evenly apart from the demons, for julian and the girl to stand in. from there they could ask the cur any questions and it would be bound to answer truthfully or suffer immense pain. but most vital were the binding words at the tip of the two circles, which acted as a shield to repulse any of the demons attempts at trickery or evil. one for julian and one for the girl, each strong enough for only one person. to attempt a summoning without one of those would be begging for it.

however, all three circles lay warped and heavily defaced. the demons circle had been completely scorched beyond recognition, a testament to its wrath at being dragged up by a mortals whim. julians circle, which Adam recognised by the priests name being woven into the binding word, had been scuffed where the fool had scrambled towards safety. and then there was the girl's circle. her name was sophie. and Sophie was... fuck.

smears of blood led from the circle to the girl's dead body, which laid spreadeagled on the floor next to the wall. Adam took one look at the corpse and immediately knew that he was in deep danger. her black hair flared insanely around her head, framing a frightening face locked in a blind stare. the girl's eyes were whites, her mouth open wide in a silent scream. red trickled in a small line from the corner of her lips, which were stretched abnormally wide in her violent death throes. but all this was nothing compared to the wound at her abdomen, the one which even now still poured forth copious amounts of blood. a hole gaped obscenely where her stomach would have been, a testament to the demons vicious ministrations.

yet there was something strange about the wound. instead of being staved in as if by a knife or talon... the bones jutting outward and intestines trailing a metre away from her suggested that the penetration came from WITHIN her. it was similar to wasp young eating their way out of a victim's body, except with a more explosive finale. no ordinary demon could have done that.

well, Adam thought as he reached down the front of his sweater and pulled out a pouch attached to a string around his neck, i WAS saving this for something special. wrenching it so it came away in his hand, Adam pulled out his lighter. igniting the pouch, a strange green mist expanded to fill the room in an instant, accompanied by a distinctively pungent smell. a harsh hissing sound quickly filled the room, a barely audible cacophony of vile whispers and threats which faded and rose again.

as Adam tucked his lighter back into his sweater, he turned to the body and paced towards it warily. as he got closer, he felt a presence. horrible and looming, it remained invisible... yet its burning desire to rip into his skin and feast on his innards was so strong it caused him a slight discomfort. it became stronger and stronger as he neared the body, until finally he couldnt take the growing annoyance.

"alright you bloody piece of hellish shit. those herbs i went through so much trouble to get almost seem worth it now cause im actually enjoying you being so pissed off you cant get to me for the next couple of minutes. so why not you go skulk in a corner till im done with this little piece of work you left? then we can talk all you fuckin want you friggin ass hole."

he could tell it never met indifference like his before the way it drew back in shock. taking a small piece of pleasure from the demons incredulity, Adam continued till he was standing directly above the corpse. sighing, he kneeled down, making very sure he didnt get any blood on his person.

well, he thought, time to get to work. that spell wont lost forever.

closing his eyes, Adam emptied his mind and let his mind drift. at the same time, on another layer of consciousness, he subtly guided his thoughts outward, filling the room with his mind patterns and losing himself in the very act of expanding his awareness. soon, his very being took on a familiar elevated state as he became so in tune with his surroundings that he could sense things magicians and mediums strive their whole lives to attain: lucid dreaming with absolute control. he began tracing and connecting the ley lines in the room, links of powerful spiritual nature bending to his will like putty. he thread them back and forth, deftly manipulating them till they criss crossed in bizarre patterns only he understood.

after what seemed like an eternity, Adam finally had everything in place. with dozens of spectral strings at his fingertips, he made himself ready for the next and most dangerous step.

snapping open his eyes, Adam placed his hands on the sides of the girls head.

and heard a thunderous booming.

a whirlwind of crying and laughing.

a blast of love and hate.

and Adam became sophie.

Thus ends part 2 of Introducing Adam Occult.
